On the dial a trapezoidal aperture opens between two hour indicators to reveal the cultural diversity of our world. The symbols of different cultures-Indian, Arabic, Japanese, English, German, Catalan, Latin and Greek-are displayed successively, the first hour indicated by the universally known zero.
